The PSD leaders are campaign in the party: “It will take us to the third time!” source

The PSD leaders sent to the mayors that all the surveys ordered by the party shows that Victor Ponta has no chance of entering the presidential final. Sources from the social-democratic leadership claim that Marcel Ciolacu and Mihai Tudose even raised the voice in some discussions with the branch presidents, asking: “Do you want to get the Ponta from the government and the third time? Will you not arrive in 2015 and 2017?”.

Dozens of PSD mayors are debated at the start of the campaign: I do not know whether to shoot for Crin Antonescu, the Coalition candidate, or for Victor Ponta, their party colleague until last month. Marcel Ciolacu, Mihai Tudose and Paul Stănescu asked them to completely mobilize for Crin Antonescu, political sources say for “Adevărul”.

The main message sent by the PSD leaders was that Victor Ponta has no chance for the presidential final. “They told us that all the surveys ordered shows that the tip takes as much as Mircea Geoană or at most 10%. The poll thrown by Nicușor Dan, in which Ponta is in second place, a campaign strategy, mobilize his own electorate ”said one of the PSD mayors for “Adevărul”.

Mihai Tudose, in an older conflict with Victor Ponta, even spoke in a high tone. “If you put the stamp on Victor Ponta it is like voting to get out of government.”Tudose warned, according to the quoted sources. And the other PSD leaders in Kiseleff continued: “Do you want to get the Ponta from the government and the third time? Will you not arrive in 2015 and 2017?”.

In other words, the PSD leadership estimates that Victor Ponta will not enter the second round, but can break enough votes to confuse Crin Antonescu. Thus, the presidential final would be disputed between George Simion and Nicușor Dan, with higher chances for the current general mayor. Therefore, if Nicușor Dan arrives at the Cotroceni Palace, the Government's fall and PSD would lose the position of prime minister. The social-democratic leaders anticipate that Nicușor Dan will name Ilie Bolojan at the head of the government, and the PSD could go into the opposition, in order to save the elections of 2028.

Basically, Victor Ponta would put the shoulder, indirectly, at the exit of the Social Democrats from the government. It is the same reproach that Victor Ponta received in 2015, but also in 2017. 10 years ago, he decided to resign from the Victoria Palace after the Tragedy of the Collective. PSD was then forced to go into the opposition. In 2017, Victor Ponta had been excluded from the PSD, being in conflict with Liviu Dragnea. He then founded the Proroman, a party detached from the PSD, but who voted the censorship motion against the Dăncilă government. It was the second time Ponta sent PSD to opposition. The Orban government came to power.
