The suspect was to stab a knife and injure another man on Saturday afternoon at the Sophie-Charlotte-Platz metro station in West Berlin. The victim died on the spot.
The attacker was shot several times later by the police on the street. He was resuscitated at the scene and was taken to hospital with life -threatening injuries, where he underwent a rescue surgery.

The German police explain the matter
According to the newspaper “Bild”, the 43-year-old and his subsequent victim got into a quarrel on the U12 metro line towards Warschauer Strasse. The perpetrator was to follow the passers -by to the platform, pull out the knife and stab it.
The exact background of the event is still unclear, for example, it is still not clear whether the attacker and the victim knew each other. The identity of the perpetrator and the victim has not yet been disclosed by the authorities. However, the prosecutor's office intends to provide further information on Sunday.
