At night from Tuesday to Wednesday during Russia's attack on Ukraine, the Polish airspace was violated 19 times by drones. Polish and allied radiolocation systems participated in the defense operation, following several facilities as well as Polish and allied aircraft. Those drones that pose a direct threat were shot down. Operations outside of ground systems were attended by, among others Early warning aircraft AWACS, two F-35 fighters and two F-16, helicopters-Mi-24 combat, as well as multi-purpose M-17 and Black Hawk.

The army and services are looking for the remains of machines. According to the last data of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, 16 drones have been found so far. President Nawrocki announced on Wednesday that within 48 hours he would convene a meeting of the National Security Council – it began after 17 on Thursday. At the beginning of the meeting, the president expressed the hope that after a prior political discussion in the Sejm – where the head of the Ministry of National Defense presented information on the Tuesday night – the RBN meeting will be an opportunity for a calm and substantive discussion of the case.

– If someone had doubts that for four years Poland has been participating directly in the hybrid war, I think that on September 10, 2025, he can eventually abandon these doubts. Yes, Poland has been a participant in the hybrid war for four years – said Nawrocki. The president indicated that this war took place on land, in water, and now also in the air.

Nawrocki said that the attack of Russian drones was a “test” that was to concern the resistance of Polish society, the stability of political offices, but also allied skills and the ability to respond together with the partners with NATO and the EU. – I have a deep impression that we passed this test of September 10, 2025 as Poland – said the president, reserving that there are still many things to do in terms of security.

The president pointed out that he managed to take care of the security of civilians, for which he thanked the military commanders present at the RBN of the General Staff of the Polish Army General Gen. Wiesław Kukula and the operational commander General Maciej Klisz – and soldiers. – This passed test was also possible thanks to the unity of the political class, the president of Poland, as well as the Polish government – he said, also pointing to the “proponent” attitude of the opposition.

Nawrocki emphasized that from night hours he was in constant contact with Prime Minister Donald Tusk. – We met in the Operational Command of the Armed Forces (…) and there we looked at the development of the whole situation – he added.

– This unity, when Russian drones attacked us, had its specific translation into our functioning in the first hours – said Nawrocki. He pointed out that both he and Prime Minister Tusk and members of the government performed their task when it comes to diplomatic contacts with the leaders of allied countries.

As Nawrocki said, the time has come to “draw the consequences of what happened and ask yourself a specific question, what we could do better.” – I am deeply convinced that first of all we must increase investments in air defense and anti -cancer defense; Both in the purchase of new systems and in the development of national technologies – the president pointed out. He added that this is associated with an increase in defense expenses to a 5 % ceiling. GDP.

Nawrocki also referred to his recent visit to Finland, where an extensive shelter system operates. – I think that in the scope of legislative activities, and and strategic activities we have a good reference point – he assessed.

At the end of the speech, the president warned against the submission of Russian disinformation. – I am starting the National Security Council, which I would like it to become our common commitment and the forum to exchange proponent thought in the field of Poland's security and the future – he said.

The National Security Council is the president's advisory body in matters of internal and external state security. It consists of: Marshals of the Sejm and Senate, Prime Minister, heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior and Administration, minister coordinator of special services, bosses of groups with parliamentary, parliamentary or parliamentary club (or chairman of these clubs or wheels), heads of the Chancellery of the President and the National Security Bureau. The last meeting of the council took place in June, still during the office of President Andrzej Duda, although after the election of Nawrocki as president.
