A new title will appear in Krasnoyarsk – the “Honorary Veteran of the City”, the city hall said.
It will be appropriated by active and honored veterans of military operations, military service and labor veterans, which have been making a significant contribution to the development of the city, the veteran movement for at least 10 years and participate in the patriotic education of youth.
The presentation of the badge and certificates will be timed to the International Day of the elderly, which is celebrated on October 1.
The city council of veterans made the initiative to assign the award.
“The idea appeared with us two years ago. At that time, there were already “Honorary Citizen of the City of Krasnoyarsk” and “Honorary Veteran of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Public Organization of Veterans”. I wanted to create a reward specifically for veterans of the city of Krasnoyarsk. The Council of Deputies and the administration supported our initiative. Many activities have more than 15 years in our organization, and some have 20, not counting the total work experience. These people are worthy of such a high rank, ”said the chairman of the Krasnoyarsk City Council of Veterans Sergey Bresky.
The first candidates will be determined at the nearest session of the city council of deputies. This year, 8 people will receive the title of “Honorary Veteran of the City”.
“There was no such title yet. Veterans have been engaged in the patriotic education of youth for many years, the protection of the rights and interests of older people, support the families of their fighters, and participate in all city events. The new status will once again confirm their significant contribution to the development of Krasnoyarsk. In addition to honorary status, veterans will receive a lump -sum payment” – Olga Kachanova noted the head of the social protection department of the Krasnoyarsk administration.
