In his opinion, the intention to introduce tax should not cause tensions in relations with the US; He announced consultations, among others with American commercial chambers.

“Digital tax in Europe should already be in Poland. The determination is high, because the goal is important – new money in the budget for innovation, for start -ups, for research,” Gawkowski told journalists in the lobby of the Economic Forum in Karpacz.

When asked if there would be a diplomatic grinding in talks with the Americans, in connection with the tax, he assessed that Poland is today a reliable partner for the US and that he sees no reason not to introduce tax.

“In Europe, countries that are close to Donald Trump's table are constantly talking to him – they have digital tax. Great Britain, Italy or France (…), why Poland should not have it and why Poland is not to use those milards that may flow into the Polish budget,” said the head of MC.

“Poland is today a reliable partner for the USA, because it buys a lot of equipment, spends billions of dollars” – he added, pointing out that no American Big Tech will suffer if he pays fair taxes.

“Today work is underway, there is no law – there are consultations, also with chambers and American and other countries, there is a full open process,” he added.

He repeated that the bill is to be ready at the end of the year, and the budget tax revenues would be taken into account from 2027 if the Act would enter into force.

On September 1, Gawkowski informed PAP Biznes that work on the amendment to the Act on the National Cybersecurity System is already completed, and the department of digitization is counting on the rapid adoption of the project by the government.

Also on September 1, the ministry announced that on September 17, at the Ministry of Digitization, another from a series of meetings devoted to consultations of tax assumptions on digital services would be held. This time the meeting is to be intended for foreign commercial chambers.

On August 13, the department of digitization, after reading the expertise regarding possible digital tax models, proposed that it concerned companies that achieve consolidated revenues higher than EUR 750 million per year in global terms, but it is to be collected from revenues achieved in Poland. The ministry accepts the so -called a wide variant with a tax rate of 3 %, which would guarantee over PLN 3 billion in budget revenues in 2030.

– I really treat digitization not as a political method and dogma. I believe that digitization in Poland is important from the perspective of everyone, because it concerns agriculture, health protection, sport and work – he assured.

Asked if he is not afraid that the Polish deficit (in the draft budget act for 2026. The deficit was scheduled for PLN 272 billion) will force savings in the scope of digitization, said that he will spend the money he has. – I see a bigger problem with financial resources for digitization in the fact that we are building various interesting, cool programs, but in these programs it is not easy to spend funds, because, for example, the market is saturated – he said.

As an example, he indicated the so -called leveling program. white spots, i.e. places without internet access. The minister explained that fewer and fewer such places make connecting them to range more expensive, thus it is more difficult to spend them.

According to Gawkowski, children should learn digital hygiene. – The Polish state should have the courage to introduce the subject of digital hygiene, digital competence at school. This should be the goal – he declared. He pointed out that this should be the education of the elderly. He reminded that last year 80,000 People took part in the inter -generational school program, where young people taught older service, e.g. the Internet. (PAP)
