What did Nicușor Dan and Ursula von der Leyen discussed at the Black Sea

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, arrived in Romania on Monday and was received by President Nicușor Dan at the military base Mihail Kogălniceanu. The two officials went with the helicopter to Constanța, where they visited the “King Ferdinand”.

“Today I wished I welcome the Black Sea shore to the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

Our country has a special strategic importance for European and Euro-Atlantic security, and Romania fulfills its role as a member of the EU and NATO ally on the eastern flank.

Our common visit today also reflects the geostrategic importance of Constanta Port, both as a commercial and military logistics node, and from the perspective of future Ukraine reconstruction efforts ”. He sent the President of Romania to a post on his Facebook page to which he added several photos taken in the helicopter along with the head of the European Commission.

Ursula von der Leyen visited, on Monday, the “King Ferdinand” from the Constanta military port. The head of the European Commission was accompanied by President Nicușor Dan, Minister of Defense, Ionuț Moșteanu, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Țoiu. The delegation will then go to the 57 Air Base “Mihail Kogălniceanu”, where it will make press statements, according to the Southeast Info reporters, quoted by G4media.ro.

“We emphasized on this occasion the need to operationalize the Black Sea maritime security hub, as part of the EU strategy for the Black Sea. We are concerned to use the European resources as efficiently, including through the Readiness2030 plan and the SAFE instrument, for the extension of our military capabilities, modernizing the defense industry and increasing military mobility” said President Nicușor Dan.
