From September, the Russian Ministry of Culture will not give consent to the distribution of films “promoting childlessness” – said the RIA Novosti agency on Tuesday.

Earlier, the Russian “Gazeta Parliamentna” wrote that this group of films could even include a series about Harry Potter (Hogwarts teachers are generally childless), or the series “Sex in the big city”, “Game of Thrones” or “House of Cards”. In all, some heroes are childless and do not take family life. Vice -chairman of the State Duma Information Policy Committee Aleksander Juszczenko pointed out that in each case the decision will be made individually. Movies, whose heroes are childless by choice, will also be removed from social networks and streaming services.
At the end of last year, Russian leader Vladimir Putin signed a law prohibiting the “propaganda” of childless people – a voluntary refusal to have children – reminded Moscow Times. Finds were introduced for violations: up to 400,000 rubles for citizens, up to 800,000 for officials and up to 5 million for legal persons, or administrative suspension of activities for up to 90 days. Foreigners guilty of propagating childlessness would be deported from Russia.
Pursuant to the law adopted, the “propaganda” of childlessness is considered to be the dissemination of information “aimed at creating the attractiveness of refusal to have children and socially equalize children with a refusal to have children.” However, the Act does not include a clergy and people living in religious orders who are obliged to preserve celibacy, and thus childlessness – emphasized the portal.
The bananda of “propaganda” of childlessness was justified by the fact that in Russian society the “ideology of childlessness” was spreading, threatening traditional values and “creating conditions conducive to depopulation,” Moscow Times said. (PAP)
