Taxes on internal combustion cars in Poland. There is a decision of the European Commission

After a year of negotiations, there is an agreement with the European Commission regarding removal from the KPO registration excise duty and environmental fee on combustion cars – according to an entry by the Deputy Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, Jan Szyszko.
“We have eliminated the last taxes on internal combustion cars from the KPO! We have a deal with the European Commission after a year of negotiations,” wrote Szyszko.
He added that this concerns the KPO reforms agreed with the EC by the previous government, which are now being implemented were replaced by a reform involving PLN 3 billion of investment in Polish heating.
According to previous announcements by the head of the Ministry of FiPR, this is about: reforms regarding the introduction of auctions for biomethane and investments in direct gas pipelines for biogasagricultural biogas and biomethane.
“The balance of bad reforms in KPO: still 0, and the balance of investments: PLN 100 billion and growing,” added Szyszko.
What disappeared from KPO milestones?
As representatives of the Ministry of FiPR indicated earlier, the fees that were to be abolished as part of negotiations with the EC from KPO milestones are registration excise duty on internal combustion cars and environmental fee for entrepreneurs' internal combustion cars.
As part of the first revision of the Polish KPO, the tax on owning combustion cars was removed from the milestones. It was to be in force from 2026.
