The mayor of Craiova, Lia Olguța Vasilescu (50 years old), posted a controversial image on Social Media on Friday after Craiova University defeated Istanbul Bașakșeşhir, Score 3-1, and first managed to qualify in the unique group of league league.

Olguța Vasilescu climbed the official Facebook account last night with an artificial, aggressive intelligence, in which there was a lion standing on the back of an Ottoman soldier. The image had accumulated over 4,500 reactions from the Internet users.
The post published on Thursday evening at 10:32 pm, shortly after the qualification of the team trained by Mirel Rădoi, later became unavailable on the mayor's social media page. According to Facebook regulations, a post can become unavailable either by its elimination or by restricting, from the application settings, the access of the users who can view it.
- Lia Olguța Vasilescu, a member of the PSD, won the latest local elections in Craiova, organized on June 9, 2024. He obtained 55.5% of the votes of the electorate that was presented at the ballot box.
- It is in the fourth term at the City Hall of Craiova, being at the management of the city for over a decade, with the first term started in 2012.
Craiova University, for the first time in European groups
The Oltenians prevailed in the second leg of the qualifying play-off for the Conference League group with a score of 3-1. In the match on “Oblemenco”, the score was quickly opened by the Turks, through Davie Selke (minute 7).
