Jannik Sinner withdrew from mixed double
Previously, on Tuesday, US Open organizers announced that Jannik Sinner will not participate in the mixed double competition, where he should have pair with Katerina Siniakova.
The Italian confirmed this just one day after abandoning the final from Cincinnati against Carlos Alcaraz at the 5-0 score.
I didn't feel well. Now I have a few days to recover, then I will go back to work. I hope to be prepared. The US Open is a very difficult tournament, but at the same time I am happy, because I love the Grand Slam, they are essential in my career. Now, recovery is the most important thing.
– Jannik Sinner
In the first round, Sinner and Siniakova should have played against the pair Alexander Zverev and Belinda Bencic. The organizers of the US Open now have to find a replacement option.
The Italian wants to focus fully on the simple test, where he defends his title last year. The last one who managed to defend his trophy was Roger Federer in 2008.
