Asked about the possibility of being rejected by the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) the project on magistrates' pensions, the prime minister said that the Government is trying to prepare “this package as best as possible, taking into account the decisions that the Constitutional Court has issued in this area, and there are not few”.

“This package refers to what is happening in the future, so it refers to the pensions that will enter the payment after the date of entry into force, and I hope that, respecting all the decisions of the Court and respecting the legislation, arguing as best as possible, this package has high chances of passing the Constitutional Court,” continued Ilie Bolojan.

He said that the reform in the magistracy “must be expanded” in other areas.

“You realize (…) that if such a package falls to the Constitutional Court, it is hard to assume that this government will still have the legitimacy to resolve other injustices, other accumulations, which are gathered, because these imbalances related to retirements are not only in this system, they are in other systems. Rapid, it means imbalances in the relationship between pension and salary, and, therefore, this correction is a bridgehead and it must be extended in the other areas, ”concluded Ilie Bolojan.

What did he say about the actual adoption of measures

The prime minister said that package 2 will include “projects on five important fields – on the side of local public administration, on the health side, on the pensions of the magistrates, as a bridgehead to solve the other aspects related to the area of ​​these pensions, on the component of companies and companies”.

The Liberal claims that they could not be adopted in a single package because “they are quite different and it is difficult to couples the health with the administration, the pensions of the magistrates with the state companies.”

“It is very possible to have this package, to say, on five projects.
