Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said on Tuesday evening that the health financing system is no longer sustainable, given that CNAS needs another 10-11 billion lei to close the year, and much of the funds directed to hospitals only go on wages.

“This year I had a budget at the National House of Health Insurance of 77 billion lei and the house notified us that it takes 10-11 billion to close the year, because they did not pay drugs, services. Of the 370 hospitals, around 100 have personnel expenses over 80-90%.

He stressed that, after the 2018 salary increases, most of the amounts allocated to hospitals go to salaries, regardless of the number of patients. “When the salaries in health were increased in 2018, they are directly allocated for salary from the budget, today 60-70% of the amounts that each hospital receives as a difference in salary.

Referring to the measures by which the Government eliminated exemptions and introduced the contribution to health (CASS) for several categories, including for the mothers on child-raising leave, Bolojan said: “I have been very wide people in hand and I gave many exemptions in recent years.
