Military students earned PLN 6,300 per month. The Ministry of National Defense changes the rules


As reported by “Rzeczpospolita”, the provisions regarding the payment of remuneration for first -year students at military universities are a field for abuse. Listeners of military universities receive PLN 6,300 monthly salary. Moreover, if they break the studies, they are not required to return the funds. The ministry announced changes in the system.

In 2022, as part of the Act on the defense of the homeland, a system was introduced to encourage young Poles to a military career. Some people who studied in the first year received a monthly salary from the army. In the following years, the original amount of PLN 6,300 was to increase, after appointing to professional military service. The amount of remuneration depended on the degree and year of education of the soldier.
The grassy idea that guided the bonus system for military university students was unfortunately used by some to earn. The gap in the regulations caused that students could receive remuneration for a year, then give up education without returning the funds received.

As “Rzeczpospolita” notes, there were people who have repeatedly resigned from their studies, did not become soldiers and applied again for the first year. The system, which came into force with the Act in 2022, did not foresee such a possibility.
Now, however, the Ministry of National Defense intends to fix its oversight and change. The ministry introduced the sealing of the regulations, the effects of which are already noticeable. In accordance with the data of the Ministry of National Defense at the end of July 2025, which was presented by “Rzeczpospolita”, only 10 percent. Generally admitted to the first year of cadet studies, he did not graduate for the first year for various reasons.
The Ministry of National Defense ensures that new solutions effectively “stop any abuse and irregularities” in the military education system.
