Canada Prime Minister came with an unannounced visit to Kiev

Prime Minister Canada Mark Carney arrived on Sunday with an unannounced visit to Kiev in connection with the celebration of the Independence Day of Ukraine. In a short post on Platform X, he announced an increase in Canada's support and efforts in favor of just and lasting peace for Ukraine.


“I just arrived in Kiev (…). At this special moment of Ukraine's history, i.e. on Independence, Canada increases its support and efforts for just and lasting peace for Ukraine,” he wrote. (https://tinyurl.com/jm72z5xw)
Earlier, the media reported that Carney would go to Poland, Germany and Latvia on August 25-27, 2025.
In Berlin, Carney will meet German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, in Warsaw with President Karol Nawrocki and Prime Minister Donald Tusk and business leaders – the office of the Canadian prime minister told the office.
Prime Minister Carney will also emphasize the constant support of Canada for lasting peace in Ukraine and Europe, indicating that no decisions regarding Ukraine should be made without Ukraine, but decisions regarding Europe without Europe – the office informed.

“In the face of the growing danger and divisions in the world, Canada focuses on strengthening and diversifying its international partnerships. Together, we will create greater security, stability and prosperity on both sides of the Atlantic,” the prime minister's office emphasized in a statement.
