How many Ukrainian refugees have received temporary protection status in the EU

The number of Ukrainian citizens who received temporary protection status in the European Union countries was 4,306,800, with 0.5% more than January, EU Statistics Office announced on Thursday.

The EU states with the most Ukrainian refugees are Germany – which houses 27.3% of the total EU (1,177,800 people), Poland – with 23.1% (994,790 people) and the Czech Republic – with 9.2% (397,750 people), the data of Eurostat, quoted by EFE and Agerpres shows.

In Romania, the number of registered Ukrainian refugees was in February 182,200, respectively 4.23% of the total EU, according to Eurostat.

According to the same data, adult women represent almost half (44.7%) of Ukrainian war refugees, while children represent almost one third (31.8%), and adult men less than a quarter of the total (23.4%).

The EU states agreed on June 25, 2024 to extend the temporary protection status for Ukrainian citizens until March 4, 2026.
