Daniil Medvedev (29 years old, #13 ATP) offered shocking statements before the start of the last Grand Slam, US Open. The Russian tennis claims that it will boycott in the future the matches that are played in the morning.

Medvedev won a single Grand Slam title, right at the US Open, in 2021, when he defeated Novak Djokovic (38 years, #7 ATP), score 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

Daniil Medvedev shocks before the US Open: “I will boycott the matches”

Upon his arrival in New York for the US Open, the last Grand Slam of the season, Medvedev spoke about the matches that play early in the morning and stressed that in the future, he will abandon those parties.

I talked to my team and said, “Listen, when I turn 35, I will boycott the matches that are played at 11 in the morning.” I say this seriously, I will not play, I will give them. I will explain that I slept too much, that I didn't wake up on time. I'm sorry“, Said the Russian tennis, according to Sportal.rs.

The Russian claims that there is a huge difference between the matches played in the evening and the morning: “In my opinion, 11 o'clock for a match is too early. You have to wake up at 6:30 in the morning. If you play in the evening session, then you wake up at 9 in the morning. This changes the whole perspective of the match”.

Daniil Medvedev will play in the first round mixed at the US Open Tuesday evening, along with Mirra Andreeva, against the pair made up of Novak Djokovic and Olga Danilovic.

At 29, Daniil Medvedev has come out of the Top 10 ATP following the weak results lately. Specialist on the hard surface, Medvedev won a single Grand Slam tournament, at the US Open, in 2021.

The Russian reached 3 times in the Australian Open final, in 2021, 2022 and 2024, but lost each time.
