The Chairman of the European Council Antonio Costa convened on Tuesday a virtual meeting of EU leaders in order to summarize the Monday summit in Washington, in which the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelnski, US President Donald Trump and leading European leaders – chairwoman of the European Commission Ursula von Der Leyen, NATO Mark Rutte, president of France, President of France, Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Prime Minister of Great Britain Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Finland President Alexander Stubb.
“I convened a video conference of members of the European Council for tomorrow at 1pm Central European time to summarize today's meetings in Washington regarding Ukraine,” Costa wrote on social media.
“Together with the United States, the EU will continue to work for lasting peace that will protect the vital interests of the security of Ukraine and Europe,” he added.
Together with Zelanski and Trump, the leaders of France, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Finland, NATO and the European Commission will take part in the Monday peak in the White House, while Washington strives to end the war of Russia with Ukraine.
