Never do this during the harvest – and carrots will remain fresh and juicy for a long time

You need to remove carrots in dry, clear and cold weather, while the soil should be a little wet. If it has rained, you need to wait a few days while the earth dries – if the earth is dry, it is better a day before cleaning the crop to moisturize.

If the carrots grows on the sandy area, it is removed with the hands, if in the ground – they dig it with a pitchfork or shovel.

During harvesting, in no case, it is not necessary to knock down the ground from the root crops – it is better to leave them to dry, and then remove them with your hands.

After the carrots are dug up, you need to immediately cut the tops, leaving 1 cm so that the fruits do not lose moisture.

In the garden, the carrots are dried for about four hours, and then remove the crop in the shadows and left there for several days – after that the root crops can be stored in the cellar.

Context

The ripeness of carrots can be determined by external signs. If the lower leaves are yellow on the tops, and the carrots itself protrudes a little above the ground, acquired a rich color and reached a characteristic size, it can already be collected.
