The religious organization has been trying for years to register ownership of the territory around its religious building – the Buddhist stupa on Polyarnaya Street in Pokrovka.

As the court found, the municipal property department unreasonably refused to transfer the land, although the stupa has long stood in this place and is used by believers for rituals. Representatives of the center argued that they needed not only the area under the structure itself, but also the space around it for meetings.

The court agreed with the arguments of the Buddhists, noting that the concrete coverings and other landscaping elements around the stupa have a single functional purpose. The city administration is now obliged to reconsider the application of a religious organization within 15 days.
