Nine large polls on May 2025 presidents have been published since the official registration of the BEC candidates. George Simion is a detached leader in all, while the second place race shows a close one. As for Elena Lasconi, the candidate to whom her party – USR – withdrew support in favor of Nicușor Dan, except for a single poll, she ranked the last place among those enrolled in the race.
Nicușor Dan, the independent candidate for whom USR leaders announced their support on Wednesday, appears in all polls alternating in second or third place.
The best score for Nicușor Dan is given by the first great poll, the Atlasintel – Hotnews by 26%. Its weakest score is in a sociopol survey in April, where it is quoted with 16%.
As for Elena Lasconi, who announced that she will not withdraw although she was left without the support of her party, she was rated by 4% in the Attintel survey, and the highest score had in a research from the end of March-when she was 12%.
Race in three for second place
Crin Antonescu, the candidate of the PSD-PNL-UDMR governance coalition, alternates in second-place polls, on the third place or even four.
In the best ranking Antonescu is listed in an ARA-Antena 3 poll with 24%. Antonescu's weakest ranking is in a sociopol poll-14%.
The most sinuous evolution in polls is Victor Ponta. The independent candidate jumps from a percent of 9-12% in some polls, at scores of 21-23%, in other sociological research. On March 31, the director of Inscop Research, Remus Stefureac, said that there are several opinion polls indicating a two tour with George Simion and Victor Ponta.
On April 8, when they decided to withdraw the support of Elena Lasconi, the USR leaders argued that “only Nicușor Dan can prevent a second tour between Simion and Ponta.
