If Tesla's application is approved by the OFGEM energy supervision authority, then – as BBC informs – Tesla will be able to take control of large companies next year, which dominate the British energy market in the scope of supplying electricity to households and companies in England, Scotland and Wales.
Tesla, which is best known as one of the world's largest manufacturers of electric vehicles, also operates in solar energy and battery storage.
Musk wants to provide electricity
As BBC explains, OFGEM may need up to nine months to consider applications for licenses for energy supply. The conclusion, signed by Andrew Payne, who manages Tesla's European energy operations, was submitted at the end of last month.
Tesla Electric already supports a energy supplier in Texas, which allows owners of their electric vehicles cheap car charging and pays them for providing electricity surpluses back to the network.

Tesla has sold over a quarter of a million electric vehicles and tens of thousands of home batteries in Great Britainwhich can help her access the large customer base in the field of electricity supply.
The application for a OFGEM license arises when the sale of Tesla electric vehicles has fallen throughout Europe in recent months.
As BBC reminds, In July, Tesla's registrations in Great Britain fell by almost 60 percent, and in Germany by over 55 percent. This meant that the decrease in sales of the company this month amounted to 45 percent. on 10 key European markets.
Tesla faced strong competition from competitive manufacturers of electric vehicles, especially Chinese BYD.
