Poland is obliged to take appropriate explanatory actions, as Maciej Berestecki, spokesman for the European Commission, pointed out in an interview with RMF FM. It is on the Member States that the obligation to protect the fiscal interests of the community rests, which in situations of irregularity also includes the recovery of funds. The EC emphasized that Poland should first implement appropriate repair mechanisms if any deficiencies were confirmed.
