“The reform of the state and the reform of the political world must continue, if we want to have the chance to make Romania well,” says the liberal Sebastian Burduja, in a message explaining to become a counselor of Prime Minister Ilie Boljan, showing that “for me, the public service is a mission.”

Burduja, former Minister of Energy in the government led by Marcel Ciolacu, was appointed Wednesday, August 6, honorary counselor of the prime minister. According to the order published in the Official Gazette, Sebastian Burudja's activity is unpaid.

“The public service is not about the politicians. It is about the ones we serve, the citizens of Romania. I have accepted the proposal of the Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan with responsibility to become an honorary counselor of the prime minister, on the areas related to my expert and the professional course so far in the Romanian public administration and in the international institutions,” he wrote on Wednesday, ” unpaid ”.

“For me, the public service is a mission. It does not end with a mandate and does not start by appointment. It is a road that I have chosen to go and I will continue, with the same dream from the first day: democratic, developed and worthy,” he continued.

“The quality of honorary counselor of the Prime Minister, at such a difficult time for our country, is a great honor and a customized responsibility. The state reform and the reform of the political world must continue, if we want to have the chance to do well. The big strategic projects must be completed The rule, not the exception.

Between 2023–2024, Sebastian Burduja was Minister of Energy, and before, between 2022-2023, he led the portfolio of research, innovation and digitalization. Last year, he ran for the Capital City Hall from PNL.
