A flotilla with humanitarian aid and activists including Greta Thunberg will leave Barcelona on Sunday, Spain, to try to “break the illegal siege of the gas,” according to the organizers, write France Presse and Agerpres.
The ships of this new fleet in the direction of the Palestinian territory will try to “reach Gaza, deliver humanitarian aid, announce the opening of a humanitarian corridor and then bring more help and also break the illegal and inhuman blockade of Israel on Gaza,” the interview announced on Saturday for AFTV.
This mission, called “Global Sumud Flotilla is different” by the previous ones because “now we have many more ships, we are much more numerous and this mobilization is historical”, said the 22 -year -old activist in Barcelona.
The fleet will be joined “dozens” of additional ships that will leave Tunisia and other Mediterranean ports on September 4, the organization counting the demonstrations and “simultaneous actions” in 44 countries, according to Greta Thunberg, a member of the Global Sumud Flotilla.
“A mission like this should never have existed,” the Swedish activist explained. This should have been “the responsibility of our governments and elected to act and make efforts to defend international law, to prevent war crimes, to prevent genocide”, but “they fail to do so and thus betray Palestinians, but also all humanity,” she expressed her opinion.
Activists from several countries will take part, but also elected Europeans.
“Little does the risks we take at sea matter, this is nothing compared to what Palestinians risk every day trying to express their will to live,” commented Greta Thunberg.
