Robinhood Europe officially started operating in Lithuania after obtaining a brokerage license category A. Thanks to this, customers from all over the European Union will gain access to the services of an American company. The Lithuanian Bank issued a message on this matter.

– Bank of Lithuania awarded the license of the Brokerage Company to Robinhood Europe, dealing with innovations in the field of property management and investment (Wealthtech) – announced in the institution's communiqué.
This decision enables Robinhood to provide financial intermediation services. Robinhood Europe is part of the American group Robinhood Markets, known in the world from offering an electronic platform for trading in shares, ETFs, options and cryptocurrencies. The main company was founded in 2013 in California and serves millions of users. Lithuania was chosen as the seat of the European branch due to favorable conditions for the development of the fintech sector.
The new European Robinhood unit was registered in Vilnius in August 2023, and it is headed by Laurynas Spangevičius, a former manager at Revolut Bank Lithuania. Currently, the company employs four people, but the planned development of operations is to significantly increase employment. The company is already a fourteenth organization with a brokerage license in the country, and the Lithuanian Wealthtech sector serves over 6 million customers throughout the EU.
In the autumn of 2025, Robinhood plans to introduce a new product – “Robinhod Banking”. This service is to offer customers savings and billing accounts, which can further strengthen the company's position in the region and increase competition on the financial services market.
The Robinhood Europe entrance is part of the dynamic development of the Lithuanian fintech sector, which is currently experiencing its “golden age”. At the beginning of 2024, about 270 fintech companies operated in the country, of which almost half had foreign capital. Over 7,000 people are employed in this industry, and the average gross salary is EUR 3900. The presence of Robinhood can be a new impulse for the development of the investment market in the region.
