Russia began to limit conversations through the WhatsApp and Telegram platforms, accusing them of Sundays with law protection authorities with information on fraud and terrorism – said the Ministry of Digital Development on Wednesday.

“In order to fight criminals, steps are taken to limit conversations on these foreign platforms,” said the Russian telecommunications market regulator of Roskomnadzor.
The Russian authorities also accuse both platforms of “drawing in Russian citizens into sabotage acts and terrorist activities.”
Journalists of the Reuters agency confirmed that from August 11 you can hardly call on a telegram, and WhatsApp calling is practically impossible due to interference in connections or metallic humming.
According to the ministry, restrictions will be removed if both platforms adapt to Russian law. – This would require their offices to open their offices in Russia, to comply with Russian regulations and to cooperate with Roskomnadz and law authorities – said the deputy head of the Commission for Information Technology Technology of the Russian Parliament, Duma, Anton Goriełkin.
