A number of 12 seriously affected pediatric patients affected by the lack of access to adequate medical treatment, along with 36 family members, were emergency from the Gaza strip, on Wednesday, in the eighth humanitarian flight organized by Romania in Palestinian Enclă, informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) in a press release.
The institutions of the Romanian state carried out the mission in coordination with the dedicated structures of the European Commission.
“The operation was carried out with the involvement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the support of the Romanian Embassy at Tel Aviv, of the Romanian Representation Office in Ramallah, MAPN, MAI-Emergency Department (DSU), Ministry of Health (MS) and non-governmental organizations from Romania, for all the Romanian activities. And the insurance during the transport of appropriate care ”, shows in the MAE statement.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the humanitarian and medical situation in the Gaza strip is “difficult”, and “access to medical treatment is severely affected by the military conflict”, so that “Romania has provided its assistance for vulnerable patients from the Palestinian enclave.”
“The mission was carried out on the Otopeni route – Ramon Airport (Eilat)/Israel – Otopeni, with a Hercules C130 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force, based on the European Union Civil Protection mechanism. A medical team made up of specialists from SMURD and medical personal persons from MAPN,” MAE said.

Some of the patients and their belongings will be taken to France.
“After arriving in Bucharest, from the total of the people evacuated from the Gaza Strip, 4 patients and 6 their belongings will be transported to France. The other 8 patients, accompanied by 30 their belongings, will receive specialized treatment in hospital units in Norway, where they are to be transported with an aircraft.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that “the operation was financially and operationally supported through the European Commission's civil protection mechanism, in close coordination with the World Health Organization and with the relevant Israeli authorities.”

The institution says that “Romania will continue to contribute to the effort to mitigate the effects of the humanitarian crisis on the Palestinian civilians in the Gaza strip, acting in close coordination with its international partners.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that “solutions that lead to the liberation of all hostages, a permanent cessation of fire, protecting the civilian population and resuming humanitarian aid for civilians affected, should be identified.
