A volcano began erupting after the powerful earthquake in eastern Russia

The Klyuchevskoy volcano of the Kamchatka peninsula, in the east of Russia, began to erupt after the powerful Wednesday earthquake, the Russian Novosti, Ria Novosti, quoted by Reuters informed.
A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 8.8 on the Richter scale occurred on Wednesday morning in Russia, generating a tsunami up to 4 meters on the east coast of the country, damaging buildings and causing the issuance of evacuation in the region and in over 12 countries. It is the sixth strongest earthquake in history.
The volcano is located on the Kamchatka Peninsula, which was the epicenter of the earthquake.
Located about 450 km north of the regional capital, Petopavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Klyuchevskoy is one of the highest and more active volcanoes in the world. It has erupted several times in recent years.
In a statement published on Telegram, the united geophysical service of the Russian Academy of Sciences said: “There is a descent of incandescent lava on the western slope. Strong glow above the volcano, explosions.”
Peskov praised Russia alert systems
Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov said there were no victims in Russia following the huge Wednesday earthquake off the Kamchatka coast, Reuters reported.
He lacked victims on account of the solid construction of buildings and irreproachable functioning of alert systems.
