They dumped hundreds of tons of waste in a stream that crosses Ploieşti. Four men pre-arrested in the case

The judges in Prahova have issued preventive arrest warrants on behalf of four men, in the file where it is suspected that two companies collected, from several counties, hundreds of tons of liquid waste, hazardous and non-hazardous, and, instead of treating them, dumped them, through a treatment plant, in the bed of the Dâmbu stream, which passes through the municipality of Ploiesti, reports News.ro. The four who were arrested are a company administrator and three of his accomplices, the tanker drivers being witnesses and declaring that they did not know what they were transporting.

“Following the administration of the evidence, the prosecutor of the case ordered the initiation of the criminal action against the investigated persons and formulated a proposal to take the measure of preventive arrest. Later, the persons in question were presented before the judge of rights and freedoms of the competent court, who, analyzing the evidentiary material administered and the merits of the proposal, admitted the request of the prosecutor's office and ordered the preventive arrest of the 4 men, for a period of 30 days”, the Prahova Police officials informed, on Wednesday evening, regarding the file regarding the discharge of waste, by two companies, in the bed of a stream.

Judicial sources told News.ro that one of the arrested men is an administrator, the other three being his accomplices.

The three are suspected of having set up a network through which they collected, from several counties, industrial waste in liquid form, being hazardous and non-hazardous waste.

These were transported to Ploieşti, where they were stored in the Vega area of the municipality and, instead of being treated, as the companies had assumed, they ended up in the water purification station in Corlăteşti and then in the bed of the Dâmbu stream.

Every day, 10 tankers were brought to Ploieşti from counties such as Mureş, Braşov, Ilfov, Brăila, Prahova and Dâmboviţa, each loaded with quantities between 10 and 20 tons of waste that ended up polluting the waters of the Dâmbu stream.

The same sources specified that the drivers who carried out the transports declared that they did not know what they were transporting, as they were witnesses in the case.
