In his statement, the British ministry reminded that in the years 2017-2024 on the Navy Day, which falls on the last Sunday of July, the main sea parade took place in St. Petersburg. This event included a review of Russian warships, as well as units from allied countries.

As reminded, the scale of the main sea parade was reduced last year. 20 surface ships took part in it and only one underwater, among them the Chinese destroyer Jiao Zuo, Pakistani training ship Summa and the Indian frigate Tabar. Then the sea parade was personally watched by Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

For comparison, in 2023, 45 combat ships, gates and submarines of four Russian fleets and about 3,000 took part in the event. soldiers.

The cancellation of the Parade in St. Petersburg this year is the first such situation since the start of this tradition in 2017. According to the British Ministry, this year's Navy Day celebrations will have a intimate character in Russia.
