Ghislaine Maxwell is currently serving a 20 -year prison sentence after being sentenced in 2021 for five charges related to sexual trafficking and conspiracy with Jeffrey Epstein to abuse minors.
Asked about a possible pardon, Trump replied evasively: “I have this right, but I did not think about it,” Cites Daily Mail. The comment appeared in the context in which the American justice recently rejected Maxwell's request to cancel his conviction, and a small part of the supporters Maga pressures for a pardon.
The White House reacted quickly: “There is no and there will be no discussions about a pardon of Ghislaine Maxwell”, said a high -ranking official.
Maxwell had two meetings with representatives of the Department of Justice, including the deputy prosecutor General, Todd Blanche, in Florida. Her lawyer said Maxwell has answered openly and completely to all questions, without invoking any immunity or refusing to provide any answer.
On August 11, 2025, Maxwell is expected to testify from prison in front of the Congress, in a closed hearing, which feeds speculation related to possible explosive information on the Epstein network.
Although he claims he wants to distance himself from the subject, Trump has failed to avoid questions about his relationship with Epstein. In a press conference, the US president seemed irritated and asked as “The world to focus on how well the country goes.”
Denial of ties with Epstein and the scandal of obscene greeting
Trump denied that he had ever visited Epstein's private island in the Caribbean and tried to move attention to other public figures, such as Bill Clinton or Larry Summers from Harvard, who had links with Epstein.
However, the American press brought to attention a greeting of Epstein's day in 2003, which would have been signed by Trump and contains an obscene sketch of a woman. Trump categorically denied that he had sent that letter by cataloging her straight “Fake, malicious and defamatory.” However, Wall Street Journal supports the authenticity of the document.
Dissatisfaction in the Camp Camp
Many of Trump's supporters, especially from the Maga movement, have expressed frustration that the administration has not published new information from “Epstein file”.
A report of the Department of Justice, signed by the Attorney General Pam Bondi, deeply disappointed these supporters. The document states that there is no evidence that Epstein has blackmailed influential people and there is no list of “Customers”. The report officially confirms that Epstein committed suicide in his cell in 2019, and that there will be no other arrests or convictions in the file.
