US President Donald Trump told the President of Ukraine Wołodymyr Zelnski in a telephone conversation on Friday that the United States wants to help Ukraine in air defense due to the escalation of Russian attacks – Axios reports on Friday.

According to the portal, which refers to the Ukrainian official and other initiated source, Friday's telephone conversation lasted about 40 minutes, and the main topic was Ukrainian needs in the area of air defense.
“Trump said he wanted to help in air defense and that he would check what was suspended, if anything,” said one of the sources, referring to the decision announced by Pentagon to suspend the delivery of parts of the missiles to air defense systems, including Patriot and Nasams. On Thursday, Trump justified this decision with concern for his own supplies of ammunition, despite the fact that during the NATO summit in Hague he promised “checking if he could provide” Ukraine, additional interceptors for patriots.
The official quoted by the Ukrainian portal said that Trump and Zelnski agreed that the teams from the USA and Ukraine would soon meet to discuss air defense and other supplies of weapons. This information was also confirmed by Zełenski himself, who in the post on platform X announced that he discussed with the American leader “Air defense possibilities”. “We agreed that we would cooperate to strengthen the protection of our sky,” he added.
A conversation with Zelanski took place against the background of intensified Russian fire of Ukrainian cities. According to Axios, Trump is aware of this escalation. On Thursday, the US president himself said that he was “very disappointed” with his conversation with Vladimir Putin and that he did not make any progress during her regarding the cessation of fights. The Kremlin rejected the proposal of the truce and did not give up his goals in Ukraine.
