In the Sayano-Shushensky reserve in the south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the expedition participants met a brown bear. This was told in the press service of the national park.
Brown bear is a background view of the reserve. With different density, it is marked almost throughout the territory and occupies all biotopes in different seasons: from the floodplains of rivers and streams in the lower belt of the mountains to the alpine zone and rocky tundra of the highlands.
“We walked along the reservoir on a boat and noticed a bear on the shore. He probably wandered in the water – the wool was half wet. Noticing us, the bear carefully watched for some time, which made it possible to take excellent pictures, ”the expedition participants share their impressions, returning from the territory of the Sayano-Shushensky reserve.
This is an omnivorous animal, however, the basis of its nutrition is plant feed. In the spring, after leaving the Berlog, which in the reserve falls on April, the bears are directed to the southern sunny slopes, where snow has already descended by this time, and feed there with bulbs and rhizomes of plants that appeared, and often a rag of herbs.
With a plentiful last year's crop of cedar nuts and lingonberries, bears are directed to these feed areas. At the same time, eggs and chicks of birds nesting on the ground go into food, burundum burrows are dug, and anthills are ruined.
The number of brown bear in the Sayano-Shushensky reserve is stable, it is 300 individuals. These animals are regularly celebrated by both features and visually, confirming their title of “master of the Siberian taiga.”
