USR meets on Saturday, from 10.00, in Congress. The event also participates in the Georgian president Salome Zurabișvili, who gave a speech in front of the delegates.

Zurabișvili said that Romania and Georgia are in different stages, but they felt pressure, interference and threats to the similar European and democratic future.

She spoke about the foreign mix in the Romanian elections, adding that “the story was not over here” because people chose to react. “So Romania has come out of this stronger, more united and more dedicated struggle to democratic values. It is not only a story that inspires, but also a proof that democracy can be defended, that it is a fight that is worth taking.”

Your responsibility is to help others go on the same European way, we count on your help, said Zurabișvili.

Yesterday, June 20, the president of Georgia met with President Nicușor Dan.

In Tbilisi, in December, a new president was invested: former footballer Mikheil Kavelașvili, supported by the Party in power, the Georgian dream. The pro-European president of Georgia, Salome Zurabișvili, accused the fraud of elections and insists that she is the legitimate leader of the country.

In a resolution adopted in February, the European Parliament “refused to recognize the self-proclaimed authorities of the Georgian dream party, following the trucked parliamentary elections of October 26, 2024, including the new president named Mihail Kavelașvili, and asked the International Community to join the boycott of Georgia”.

The European Parliament continues to recognize Salome Zourabichvili as legitimate president of Georgia.
