She was the object of dreams in the PRL. Now “Favoritka” has returned

When “toddlers”, polonaises and “large Fiat”, the Favorit model, which produced Skoda produced, was a breath of western technical thought in the Eastern Bloc. Today, the iconic Czech car has returned in a conceptual project, which instead of an internal combustion engine has an electric heart and a modern style.

As “Auto Świat” reminds, the original Skoda Favorit was produced from 1988 to 1995. First of all, it was an urban hatchback, which was the object of sighs of many drivers in the Eastern Bloc. Although today he would be considered coarse and angular, three decades ago it caused a faster heartbeat of motoring lovers.
Based on the sentiment, the young designers decided to refresh to the already unavailable car model. Skoda presented a new version of the Favorit model, which combines modern design with stylistic elements referring to the original.

The new, electric version of the iconic Czech car was created as part of the internship at the Škody company school. A group of talented enthusiasts who wanted to pay homage to legend is responsible for the project. They also set themselves an ambitious goal: placing a legend in the present day, where the electric drive prevails on the roads. Young designers based on the 1989 body and breathed a new life of the legendary “Favoritce”.

The authors of the concept kept the cleanliness of the project and focused on making the car accessible. “This is a friendly car for everyday life – compact, but still practical. This is the essence of Favorit,” says David Stinggl, one of the authors of the concept whose words are published by Skoda on his website. “For me, Favorit was a nice car where everything made sense. In this way he was simply clever” – added Ljudmil, another of the project participants.

The final result looks more like a ready -made vehicle than early sketches. The new Skoda Favorit has grown significantly (measures about 4.3 m) and has many SUV features. Many elements refer to the contemporary aesthetics of the brand, and at the same time the front of the vehicle is distinguished by a unique approach. The manufacturer has chosen ultra -high LED lamps at the front of the vehicle, as well as the illuminated logo on the tailgate. What is worth mentioning, designers also provided a sports version inspired by the Favorit rally heritage.
