PKP Cargo on Friday on its website informed about the meeting of the company's authorities with non -trainee trade union organizations, which took place on June 12.

Originally, PKP Cargo was to present a restructuring plan by the end of February 2024, but on February 27, the Company announced that the manager of the sanation mass of PKP Cargo submitted to the court an application for extension by 30 June 2025 the deadline to draw up the company's restructuring plan.
“In accordance with the formal requirements regarding the functioning of listed companies – until the restructuring plan is made public, the Company is not able to provide the details of the assumptions of development directions adopted in it, which at this stage covers the secret of the enterprise,” – noted in the Friday message.
The company pointed out that the restructuring plan should also take into account the proposed savings activities. “Information on the intention to carry out group layoffs must be published and consulted with trade union organizations before its submission. The Management Board also emphasized that the numbers of employees to whom the intention to carry out group layoffs was determined at the maximum level, and the ongoing consultations are to allow to clarify both the structure of dismissals and the final number in such a way that the process is at least as much as possible for employees” – Added.
Last week, PKP Cargo in restructuring announced the planned conduct of further group layoffs in the company. It was then indicated that they could cover up to 2429 people (up to 1041 employees in 2025 and up to 1388 in 2026 in various professional groups). The exemptions would be carried out by September 30, 2026, except that those provided for this year would take place until the end of July 2025. The manager of the sanation mass of PKP Cargo in the restructuring of Izabela Skonieczna-Patka noticed that this does not mean that group layoffs will be carried out in the shape as presented in information about their intention. “The presented information is the most pessimistic scenario for conducting group layoffs,” the administrator emphasized.
PKP Cargo announced on Friday that notifications about group release were addressed to representatives of trade union organizations in June 6. “The company has informed incorrect trade union organizations about started consultations at the company level (in each of the 7 plants and at the PKP Cargo SA headquarters in restructuring, the Company will implement a series of 3 consultation meetings)” – added.
Referring to the provisions of the Act on special rules for terminating employment relationships with employees for reasons not related to employees, the company announced that the consultation would last 20 days from the transfer of notifications.
The company reported that representatives of immense trade union organizations, including The Trade Union of Railways in Poland and the National Section of Kolejarzy NSZZ “Solidarność” expressed “dissatisfaction and opposition to the company's decision regarding the intention to carry out group layoffs and in relation to the initially adopted distribution of exemptions in professional groups.” “The trade union side pointed out that to refer to the current situation it is necessary to read the assumptions of the restructuring plan,” he added.
The company indicated that freight transport in the country is gradually decreasing. It was emphasized that the first half of 2025 brought a decrease of 4 %, which translated the smaller volume of goods transported by Cargo.
