The military firefighters were asked to intervene on Wednesday in Iasi, on Plopii Street without a husband, where a large poplar, declared a monument of nature, collapsed on the public space, following a storm. In the fall, the tree broke a perimeter fence and affected the electricity network.
Ziarul de Iași reports that an intervention vehicle within the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) Iași, as well as a specialized intervention crew from the Delgaz Grid electricity distribution operator, was on the spot.
“The intervention was necessary to remove the danger of accident, prevent additional damage and restore safety in the area,” says ISU, also announcing that no victims have been registered.
ISU also reminds the population the importance of the immediate notification of the authorities in the case of trees in danger or affected by the weather conditions.
The tree fallen on Wednesday afternoon after the storm was declared a monument of nature, this being one of the poplars who were an inspiration for the great poet Mihai Eminescu.
Several localities in Iasi county have been under the last hours under the yellow hail and vijelie code. Another yellow code that includes the municipality of Iasi, but also dozens of localities of the county, entered into force at 6.30 pm, to last until 8 pm.
There are expected showers and electric shocks, hail, as well as bursts up to 70 kilometers per hour.
