The French car manufacturer Renault takes into account the manufacture of drones in Ukraine. These would be intended for the Ukrainian army, but also the French, writes France Presse.
The car manufacturer said on Sunday that he was contacted by the French Ministry of Defense on installation in Ukraine to produce drones for the Ukrainian army, but that there has not yet been “any decision”.
“There were discussions, but no decision was taken at this stage, because we are waiting for details about this project from the ministry,” Renault told AFP.
Drone and for the French army?
According to information broadcast on Sunday by the Franceinfo radio station, Renault and a French defense SME will open production lines “within a few tens or hundreds of kilometers from the front line” in Ukraine.
This information comes two days after a statement by the French Minister of Defense Sébastien Lecorn, who announced “a total unique partnership, in which a large French car producer (…) will be associated with a French SME in the defense industry, to equip production lines in Ukraine to be capable of producing Drone.”
These drones, whose model has not been specified, will be used primarily by the Ukrainian army “but we will also make them available to our armed forces, so that we can have a permanent tactical and operational training to reflect the reality of the” conflict in Ukraine, Sébastien Lecorn said on Friday.
