Dragoș Anastasiu, about the decision of the RCC: “The fact that I have jewelry or paintings, are things that look at me, do not look at the neighbors”

Entrepreneur Dragoş Anastasiu, honorary counselor of the President of Romania for the relationship with the business environment, came with clarifications after declaring a week ago that he is not very pleased that wealth statements are made public.

Anastasiu has argued, in an intervention at Digi 24, that for attracting people in administration we must pay attention to the requirements of those in the private domain who would occupy these functions and not to expose their lives and assets of public judgment.

“I made that statement about a week ago, it has nothing to do with the decision of the Constitutional Court. They or attached now. My statement comes from the concern to attract competent people. This was the question at that time. How we attract competent people in the administration, not necessarily in politics,” said Dragoș Anastasiu, at Digi 24.

“It is normal to declare them, but I would not like to be put in the display case.”

In the opinion of the businessman, these declarations of wealth must be made, because it is normal for the dignitaries to have everything in sight.

“I do not want to comment on the decision of the Constitutional Court. I think that in a democracy we must respect justice, that we like that we do not like it, but for me it is important to attract competent people in the budgetary area. But these competent people say certain things. The fact that I have jewelry or paintings, there are things that look at me, I do not look at me, I declare it, it is normal to declare them, but I would not like them to be put in the display case, they must exist and the state must do its duty ”he says.

Anastasiu believes that the measure of public declaration of wealth was needed 15 years ago, because it was a good tool against corruption.

“In the meantime, I think that the main problem of Romania is the area of ​​competence. It is also corruption, but I think it has diminished and less. But the area of ​​competence must be resolved,” Anastasiu said.

“I agree that we agree that we need total transparency, I want to have competent people in the administration and for this we have to go to the salary, we must not be hypocrites, that otherwise we do not attract them and we have to take into account what they say and find a solution in society to combine the need for society to have visibility and the right, but also the right, but said the presidential counselor.

The decision of the CCR on Thursday, May 29, stipulates that statements of wealth and interests should not include the goods and income of the spouses and children and eliminates the obligation to publish them.

Regarding the elimination of the revenues and goods of the spouses and children in these statements, the judges now consider that it is a declaration on their own responsibility that hires the criminal liability of the one who complements it, it can only be made in its own name. A person cannot be held criminally liable for what another person has said, CCR argues.
