Alfred Simonis, the social-democratic president of the Timiș County Council, told Digi 24 that the name of the future prime minister “is, in principle, the attribute of the President of Romania, especially a week after winning the detached elections, with over 6 million votes.”
Asked if he will decide the PSD to enter the government or will remain in opposition, Alfred Simonis said: “You know that the result of a referendum is at the end, not at first. Nor started this referendum in the party. Probably in the coming days, until next week, we will have discussions with all the organizations. Or another, because the priorities of the future government, his configuration, who is the prime minister, who is the governing program ”are very important.
The Social Democrat believes that President Nicușor Dan has “a kind of legitimacy” to put the prime minister “after winning the detached elections”.
“Who is the prime minister is, in principle, the attribute of the President of Romania, especially a week after winning the detached elections, with over 6 million votes. Therefore, the result from the parliamentary elections is very important, obviously, where we won the elections, but we can not forget that we went through the two, A kind of legitimacy that the President of Romania has, ”added Simonis.
He said that “the parliamentary arithmetic must be taken into account, the fact that the PSD is the largest party in the Parliament, but we must have a functional government.”
“If the President of Romania identifies a man in the PSD, a team he can work with at this level, I think it would be good.
A matter “hardly digestible in PSD”
Alfred Simonis said that the party of which he belongs has to pass an “exam”.
“I think we have this exam in the party, which means that the biggest party in Romania does not designate the prime minister, and this is a matter that will be difficult to digest in the party (…). There are issues that need to be discussed (…). We need to collect more money in the budget and make the state expenses more efficient, to restructure, “said Alfred Simonis.
