The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, said Monday night that the mass air attacks on Russian forces are the “political choice” of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, and asked the pressure on Moscow, reports Reuters.

“From a military point of view, it makes no sense, but it is an obvious political choice – a choice of Putin, a choice of Russia – a choice to continue the war and to destroy lives,” said the Ukrainian leader.

He claims that the Russian attacks of the last three nights involved over 900 drones, as well as missiles, and showed that Russia is “playing” diplomacy. Moscow, said the President of Ukraine, “deserves large pressure, everything that can be done to limit their military capacity.”

The Chancellor of Germany announced on Monday that Western partners no longer impose Ukraine restrictions on the range of Western weapons in their use against Russian military targets.

“There are no restrictions on the ray of weapons delivered to Ukraine – neither from the United Kingdom, neither from France, nor the US imposes restrictions,” said Friedrich Merz, in a discussion forum organized by the WDR channel.

“This means that Ukraine can now defend itself, for example, attacking military positions in Russia,” the German Chancellor continued. “Until recently, he could not do this and, with very few exceptions, he did not,” he added.

In reply, the Kremlin claimed that the West's decision threatens to derail the peace negotiations started with Kiev earlier this month.

“If such decisions were really made, they could contravene our efforts to reach a political solution,” Kremlin spokesman told the reporters, Dmitri Peskov, quoted by The Moscow Times.
