It will be the longest railway tunnel in Poland. New information

The Polish railway is constantly developing. According to WNP.pl, the Szczyrzyc-Tymark railway section will include extensive works that are part of the “Podłęże-Piekiełko” project. According to plans An alternative route will be created towards Nowy Sącz and Zakopane, definitely shortening the travel time from Krakow. Two powerful tunnels are to be hollowed out on the route, and one will be the longest object of this type in our country.
Over an eight -kilometer section, connecting Szczyrzyce with Tymbark, was classified as the most important projects currently carried out by PKP PLKincluded in the plan “Podłęże -Piekiełko”. Its creation is to provide a complementary railway route to Nowy Sącz. A trip from Krakow to this city could take about sixty minutes instead of the two and a half hours so farand also facilitate access to Zakopane.
Wnp.pl indicates that the contractor will have four and a half years from the date of conclusion of the contract for completing the task. The works will be carried out in mountainous area, which requires engineering solutions with a greater complexity.
The most serious challenge is the creation of two tunnels: the first, 1090 m, will be located in the Stróże region, and the second, of the length 3820 m, in Wilkowisko and has a chance to be called the longest railway facility of this kind in the country. In total, both of these tunnel fragments will cover over half of the whole line.
As part of the tender, which was announced in September of the previous year, three executive teams submitted their offers. The first is a consortium headed by Porr, with the participation of Porr Bau GmbH and the company Trakcja System. The second team creates Przedsiębiorstwo Usług Technicznych “Intercor” from Zawiercie together with Dogus Inssaat Ve Ticaret from Istanbul and Dogus Construction Poland. In turn, the third group was organized by Budimex together with Budimex Railway and Gülermak.
Each proposal fit into the assumed investment budget. The cheapest conditions were proposed by a consortium managed by “Intercor”, while The highest score was obtained by the team's offer, which is conducted by Budimex. However, Budimex himself maintains that achieving a leading result does not yet indicate the choice of this proposal, because the whole decisive process is still going on.
