An extensive search operation is ongoing in the US state of Louisiana, after 11 detainees escaped on Friday morning from a prison in New Orleans. So far, just a fugitive has been caught. The other 10 are considered “armed and dangerous”, warns the authorities.

“Earlier this morning, we were reported that about 11 individuals escaped” From a prison in the city, said a local police officer, Christopher Goodly, in a press conference.
“All these suspects are considered armed and dangerous,” he added.

The escape was discovered during a routine count, on Friday, at 8:30 in the morning, at which time the detention center was placed immediately in quarantine.
Police did not give details about how the 11 managed to escape, EFE reports.
