The writer and dissent of the communist Ana Blandiana transmitted, on Friday, a public message declaring his support for the candidate Nicuşor Dan in the second round of the presidential elections.

“Of course no one doubts that I will vote with Nicuşor Dan, but at the same time very few believe that I have not doubted his victory in these elections,” Blandiana wrote in a Facebook post.

“My belief was not based only on logical arguments, although they all existed and knew them, which did not prevent them from being frightened by the disaster of the defeat that could happen. My belief came from the certainty that, although the evil is always stronger, the good cannot be defeated,” the writer continued.

According to the writer, despite the fears of society related to the possibility of a defeat, “when they feel threatened by the seeds of light hidden in them, people remember that they can be good.” “And suddenly, almost without realizing it, the balance of powers changes.”

“This is the moment of the truth we are experiencing now. On Sunday, the Romanian people will put their souls on the table and discover with astonishment on themselves,” concluded Blandiana.

Ana Blandiana is the winner of the prize “Princea de Asturias for Letters” in 2024 and one of the best known voices of contemporary Romanian poetry. In recent days, she has participated in several cultural events in Spain, including the International Poetry Festival in Barcelona, reached the 40th edition, where she held a public reading, notes News.ro.

On Friday, almost 40 members of the Romanian Academy, including Ana Blandiana and the Minister of Education Daniel David, launched a call to Romanians to vote rationally, choosing the European path.

“Conscious of the moment in which the Romanian society is located and the impasse in which it will be found if the elections will win the anti-European orientation, we, members of AR, we urge the citizens with voting of Romania, wherever they are, to vote rationally, choosing the European path.

The freedom we enjoy today is not a given, it is required. So we urge everyone, first of all, to vote, ”the signators of the letter write in the text.
