“Nicușor Dan runs away from the debate from Radio Romania Actualitati. Nicușor Dan refused, again, the direct confrontation with George Simion, this time in the debate organized by Radio Romania Activiti, the public radio station”shows a communication transmitted by gold.
According to the information provided by the party, the presence had to be confirmed until today, May 16, at 10.00.
“The deadline for confirming participation was 10:00 this morning. The campaign team of the candidate George Simion sent the official confirmation to the public radio station. Until this hour, however, Nicușor Dan's team did not send an answer. The debate could take place including by phone. But Nicușor Dan chose to avoid a direct confrontation on a neutral ground, preferring the friendly plateaus and comfortable interviews instead of a real confrontation, in front of the Romanian people ”, also transmitted the political formation.
Although both candidates said they were open to confrontations, Nicușor Dan and George Simion participated in a single press organized and a meeting of a trade union organization.
The debate organized on Thursday evening, May 15, by TVR, turned into an interview. On the plateau arranged in Cotroceni came only Nicușor Dan. George Simion went to a French television station.
George Simion will not participate in the TVR debate even on Friday night, but announced his presence at Realitatea Plus with Călin Georgescu, the former presidential candidate. The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (Gold) transmitted, in another press release, that the Romanian television “acts as a media extension of the candidate of the system – Nicușor Dan”. Gold accused TVR of announcing “public and unilateral” two debates without having George Simion's campaign team on the format, calendar or minimum neutrality conditions. Gold claimed that in discussions with TVR representatives, “Our team has reported that the only time available for debate is May 16”.
For his part, the Romanian television claimed that this gold issued communication “represents an interference in the Editorial Independence of SRTV, as guaranteed by law”.
