According to a statement sent on Thursday by the Sălaj County Police Inspectorate (IPJ), cited by the local Sălaj press, the law enforcement officers were notified on Tuesday, April 7, by a 26-year-old woman from Marghita. She complained that unknown persons had broken into the apartment where she lives, in the municipality of Zalău, and had stolen the sum of 94,060 lei, money that represented the wedding gift.

Following the checks carried out, the police officers of the Criminal Investigation Bureau established that the theft was, in fact, staged by the woman's husband.

The investigation shows that on April 7, around 18:00, the man would have broken into the home, leaving the door ajar, but in the “closed” position, to create the impression of a burglary.

Later, the alleged theft was reported by his wife, without her knowing the man's plan, according to the investigation data.

The suspect was identified by the police on Wednesday, April 8, and currently the investigations continue under the coordination of a prosecutor, to establish all the circumstances in which the incident occurred. The law enforcement officers specify that the crime of misleading the judicial bodies is sanctioned by law. The investigation is ongoing.
