End of Russian trips to Egypt? Large airline cuts flights

Almasria Universal Airlines, one of the largest private Egyptian airlines, will limit the flights between Russia and popular resorts, Sharm El-Saczk and Hurghada in the upcoming holiday season.

According to Newssky, the cuts of connections will come into force on May 20, and are caused by secondary sanctions of the European Union, which limited the possibility of buying European aircraft by this Egyptian airline.

Almasria is a private, low-cost carrier who specializes in flights from Italy, Saudi Arabia and Russia to resorts in Hurghada, Sharm El-Saczk and Alexandria. Its main communication node is the Airport in Cairo.

After Russian aggression to Ukraine, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) recommended aviation lines to avoid flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg and other Russian cities. In January this year, after shooting down the Azeri Air Lines aircraft, she warned carriers from outside Europe so that they would not fly in the western airspace of Russia due to the risk of accidental attack from its air defense systems.
