“Weimar Plus” format and Polish diplomacy towards Ukraine

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently participated in the meeting of foreign ministers, the so -called Holy Friday – France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain – as well as Great Britain and representatives of the European Union in London. Earlier, Prime Minister Tusk, together with the leaders of Germany, France and Great Britain, visited Kyiv.
Before the start of the Tuesday meeting of the Council of Ministers, the Prime Minister thanked Sikorski for “continuing the effort” to ensure that Poland was among the “key group”, which has a real impact on decisions about Ukraine.
“Building the” Weimar Plus “format was not easy for obvious reasons, I don't have to explain it” – noted the prime minister. “Poland is not the largest European state. And the fact that both at the level of prime ministers and at the level of (…) foreign ministers we have talks in this format, it is the result of a serious game and not everyone, as you guessed, are happy” He added. He stipulated that he would not mention the names of states that would also like to participate in these conversations.
The prime minister announced a continuation of work in this format at various levels. He also referred to the reconstruction forum for the reconstruction of Ukraine in Rome, saying that “it is not only helping Ukraine, but also great, great businesses. We will be present.” He also added that Poland is seeking to organize next year's forum edition in its territory. “We are on the right track,” he assured.
Already in March, the Minister of Development and Technology Krzysztof Paszyk reported that Poland and Ukraine are planning a joint application to the G7 countries for the organization of next year's forum for the reconstruction of Ukraine in one of the Polish cities.
