Modalto Furniture Maker Declares Bankruptcy Amid Financial Struggles

The Regional Court in Poznań has declared the bankruptcy of Modalto, a furniture manufacturer based in Krzywin, Wielkopolska. This decision stems from financial difficulties that have persisted for approximately two years. Reports indicate that more than 100 employees have been waiting for overdue wages for several months.
Founded about ten years ago, Modalto specialized in producing upholstered furniture. The company’s financial troubles were first reported in late 2024. It faced significant wage arrears, with some employees owed tens of thousands of złoty. Additionally, the company has accumulated debts to various suppliers.
In late November 2025, the Modalto case was referred to the Górski Król Law Firm, initially serving as temporary judicial advisor. Maciej Król, one of the firm’s partners, has now been appointed by the court as the bankruptcy administrator.
Bankruptcy Administrator Schedules Meeting Regarding Modalto
The Poznań Stare Miasto District Court announced Modalto’s bankruptcy on September 30. Creditors have 30 days to file their claims, and a meeting organized by the administrator is set for October 28 in Krzywin.
Efforts are currently underway to assess the company’s overall financial situation. The exact total of its debts remains unclear. Previous inspections by the National Labor Inspectorate revealed that unpaid wages to employees reached approximately 2 million złoty. Furthermore, the company is reported to have tax obligations related to property and debts to several suppliers.
— Currently, we have information about over 100 employees. We are verifying this and awaiting responses from governmental entities regarding specific amounts, says Monika Gulewicz-Drab, a representative from the Górski Król Law Firm.
The bankruptcy administrator has scheduled an informational meeting for interested parties, which will take place on October 28 at 4 PM at the Dom Strażaka in Krzywin.
