Elon Musk Invests $1 Billion in Skydance Following TVN Acquisition

Elon Musk has made a significant investment of $1 billion in Skydance, a major media company that recently acquired TVN.
According to reports from Semafor, Musk’s investment provides a vital capital injection for Skydance, which is led by David Ellison and focuses on media and entertainment.
In September, Semafor indicated that Paramount Skydance was considering raising capital from Musk.
Musk has publicly praised the Ellison family and Skydance, fueling speculation about a broader partnership.

Billionaire media magnate John Malone forecasted this move earlier in the week during a conference in New York, highlighting the close ties between Musk and Larry Ellison, the father of David Ellison and co-founder of Oracle.
Additionally, reports have emerged regarding the acquisition of TVN, with the government announcing an ex post investigation.
The acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery by Paramount Skydance, valued at $110 billion, was finalized in early October. Following the completion of this deal, the company rebranded as Skydance.
The newly formed giant possesses a diverse array of media assets, including Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures studios, streaming platforms such as HBO Max, Paramount+, Pluto TV, and Discovery+, and television channels such as CBS, CNN, HBO, HGTV, TLC, Discovery Channel, along with TVN.
Elon Musk and the Ellison Family
Ellison may leverage Musk’s capital to support cost-cutting initiatives and technological advancements, according to Semafor.
Musk and Larry Ellison have maintained a long-standing close relationship. It was largely due to the financial backing and connections from the elder Ellison that the acquisition of Warner Bros. by Paramount Skydance was made possible, with Larry personally guaranteeing over $40 billion in funding for the deal.
